Peter Morris Architect is in Vergennes, across from the Chittenden Bank and the historic Bixby Library. We are located in close proximity to Burlington and Vermont’s well-known ski areas, and have a view of the Champlain Valley and the Adirondack Mountains across the lake in New York. Peter Morris Architect is one of the largest architecture firms in Addison County. A custom-built house built by PMA stands out from typical residences, but we have the ability to do more than merely homes.. We design gardens, landscapes and landscaping projects. We have done extensive lighting design. We conceived and constructed our website, and have done web site design. We can work towards priorities like sustainable design, energy efficient design, practical every-day use, “green” architectural ideals, and more. We envision a better world, and strive for opportunities to realize the possibilities for architecture that fits.
Our current staff includes principal architect Peter Morris, drafter / CAD specialist Patti Paige, licensed associate architects Brian Forrest, secretary / office manager Laurel Jackson, and junior architect Chris Eling. We are adept at assembling the team required for a given project: acoustical consultants; mechanical, civil, electrical, structural engineers; masons; or any number of other consultants. We also enjoy working with team members already in place, such as clients’ interiors consultants, planners, or artists. The firm engages the latest computer-aided design methods, and has much experience in computer modeling and 3-D rendering.
Peter Morris is a licensed architect; he currently maintains licenses to practice in New York, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachussetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Ohio, North Carolina, Virginia, and Florida. He is also registered with the National Council of Architecture Boards ( NCARB ) for reciprocal registration in any state in the U.S.
Peter Morris lives in a house of his own design at Basin Harbor near Basin Harbor Club on the shore of Lake Champlain. His personal garden is well-renowned. The nearby Lake Champlain Maritime Museum features a number of Peter Morris projects, including the museum’s Master Plan, the Education Center, the Shipbuilding Shed, the Museum Store, the Museum Offices, and more.
